Biography 

Dr. Cheryl Lynn Walker-McGill is the founder and current president of the
Pearlz2Purpose Health Equity Think Tank in Raleigh, NC. She has experience in
clinical medicine, quality improvement, physician and community education, and
medical regulation.


She served on the North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB) for six years, and she was
President of the NCMB in 2015-16. In 2016, Dr. Walker-McGill was elected to the Board
of Directors of the Federation of State Medical Boards. During her tenure as Chair of the
FSMB she launched the FSMB Task Force on Health Equity and Medical Regulation.
Dr. Walker-McGill continues to serve on FSMB committees supporting the mission of
serving for the benefit and protection of the public.


Dr. Walker-McGill has served on faculty at the Northwestern University School of
Medicine and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She is currently an
adjunct professor at the Wingate Graduate School of Business in Charlotte, North
Carolina. Dr Walker-McGill earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Duke
University, and she completed her residency and subspecialty training at Northwestern
University. Dr. Walker-McGill received her MBA from the University of Chicago. She is
board certified in internal medicine and allergy-immunology. Honored as a pioneer by
the Duke University Baldwin Scholars Program, Dr. Walker-McGill is a recipient of the
Chicago Public School System Distinguished Achievement in Asthma Education Award
and the National Medical Association Floyd J. Malveaux Award in Allergy, Asthma, and
Immunology. Dr. Walker-McGill is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma,
and Immunology (AAAAI) and she is a past chair of the NMA Asthma, Allergy, and
Immunology Section.


 Dr. Walker-McGill is dedicated to keeping the treasured memory of her beloved
husband, Dr. Paul A. McGill, alive and furthering his mighty legacy. In 2023, she
produced the short documentary, Someone Else’s Shoes, to amplify the rich stories of
African American trailblazers in healthcare. She enjoys mentoring young students,
theater and poetry.
