Biography
Dr. Lauren Wood is an immunology expert with over 30 years research experience in the development of novel immune-based oncology and infectious disease vaccines and therapeutics.
She joined PDS Biotechnology as Chief Medical Officer in February 2019 and oversees clinical development of the novel, immune-activating Versamune and Infectimune technology platform for oncology and infectious disease indications, respectively.
Prior to joining PDS, Dr. Wood was most recently the Clinical Director of the Vaccine Branch the Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute. While there, she oversaw the translational development of immune-based therapies for both cancer and HIV infection and was a co-inventor of two patented therapeutic cancer vaccines targeting the TARP and HER2 tumor antigens.
During her extensive tenure at the National Institutes of Health, she conducted clinical research investigating antiretroviral, anti-infective, oncologic and immunomodulatory therapies in both adults and children.
Trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals with subspecialty training in Allergy and Immunology from the National
Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Wood received her M.D. fromDuke University School of Medicine and B.A. in Biology from Oberlin College.
