Biography

Sharon Murphy is a retired technology executive with over 35 years of
technology experience. Most recently she was the Executive Vice President
(EVP) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Chief Operating Office
within Wells Fargo Technology. Her nearly $1 billion organization supported
platforms for COO Risk and Control Functions, Business Operations, Chief
Administrative Office (CAO) and COO Transformation Office.
Prior to her role at Wells Fargo, she has held global technology executive roles
responsible for creating the IT product/service solutions for the Corporate & 
Investment Banking (CIB) business, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and
office of the CEO at JPMorgan.


In addition to her financial services technology career, she is very active in
technology-based initiatives within the community. Her many efforts include
early-childhood STEM education, serving as a judge for various technology
competitions, mentoring and participating in hackathons.
From 20182-2022 she represented Wells Fargo as a national Corporate
Board Member for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and served as
Chair of their Strategy Committee and was a member of their Executive
Committee.


Sharon is a native of New Jersey and earned a bachelor’s degree in
Management Information Systems (MIS) from Hofstra University and
currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.


Sharon is also a proud member of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and is a member of the National
Technology Committee.  Sharon is also a member of the Charlotte Chapter (NC)
of the Links, Incorporated and serves as National Trends  & Services Chair for her
chapter as well as Technology Co-Chair.
