Biography

Mrs. Shirley H. Williams is a quality-driven professional with extensive experience in Corporate America and Education. She is a leader with a passion for excellence and achievement.

 

Mrs. Williams’ career in Corporate America and Education spans over 40 years.  She was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield in Columbia, South Carolina and Greensboro, North Carolina prior to relocating to Alpharetta, Georgia where she gained employment with Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

 

Mrs. Williams retired from Gwinnett Technical College (GTC) in 2012, where she impacted the lives of many students as a full time teacher, lead instructor and mentor for transitioning students. In the Adult Education Department, she facilitated new student orientation, administered Official Practice tests (OPT), identified student learning deficiencies, and developed instruction based on diagnosis of learning difficulties.

 

Through many accomplishments, she was most passionate about developing a curriculum for the Bridge to Success Class, providing instruction and guidance to students transitioning from the GED Adult Education program to Gwinnett Technical College (GTC). She recruited students for the Bridge to Success class with a 97% student success rate. The Bridge to Success program was a collaborative project in partnership with Workforce Development, Gwinnett Technical College, Adult Education and Atlanta Regional Commission.

 

Mrs. Williams earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Business and Economics and a Master of Science degree in Adult Education at North Carolina A & T State University. She earned an Educational Specialist degree (Ed. S) in Educational Administration and Supervision at Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tennessee.

 

Mrs. Williams is a member of First Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina where she serves on the Deaconess Ministry. Her professional and community affiliations include Life member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Chartered member/Past Matron of Julia K. Neal Chapter #582 OES-PHA, NC A&T State University Alumni Association and Aggie Athletic Foundation (AAF). She serves as a Board Member of Delta House, Inc. (DHI); a Poll Manager at Blythewood 2 Precinct and serves as Financial Secretary for C A Johnson Class of ’66. She is a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

 

She is married to Deacon Robert Earl Williams, and they reside in South Carolina.
